Taneikah, better known as ’T’ started dancing from the age of three. With a background in ballet, jazz and funk, T discovered her love for hip hop inspired choreographic dance after watching the iconic dance movie, “You Got

Served”. There was no hip-hop dance offering on the Sunshine Coast, so she began exploring her new found passion, teaching herself from movies, music videos and You Tube clips until eventually being able to travel to the city (Brisbane) to take hip hop classes. Her artist development grew from a profound
affinity and compatibility with the ‘genre’ that also instilled deep respect for the culture and rich underpinnings of hip hop, along with the cultures, essence and foundations of each diverse influence that inspires the evolving choreographic dance scene. This has driven a long-term focus on also building her knowledge
base and approaching her influence with integrity.

T had completed a teaching training course in dance and cheer under the mentorship of a local dance school and was employed at two local studios on the Coast, teaching jazz, funk and cheerleading. The more her passion grew for teaching and Hip-Hop dance, the more she wanted to share with others and provide an opportunity to learn locally. This led her to bring the first ever Hip-Hop dance class to life on the Sunshine Coast through a local dance studio. She fell more in love with the genre and aspired to focus exclusively on hip hop classes. She also recognised a misalignment between conventional dance school curriculums and what was required to shape a better reflection of the constitution of the dance form she was representing.

After finishing year 12, in 2009, at the fresh age of seventeen, Taneikah started her own business, an
exclusively hip hop and urban dance school for dancers of all ages and ability levels. After years of building the dance school at local school and community halls, T found a home in Burnside and created the studio ‘THE HOUSE OF SOLE’. Over the years, T has won 2 x Sunshine Coast Business Awards and 2019 marked Taneikah’s 10th year in business and the start of The House of Sole SYDNEY franchise.

Over 15 years, The House of Sole was home to multiple dance teams under a crew development program specifically designed by T. Generations of dancers have grown through the program experiencing incredible opportunities, including local, interstate and international dance competitions including Hip Hop International/HHI (Las Vegas), World of Dance/WOD (LA) and Dancers Paradise (Mexico). They have performed in a myriad of events and productions and experienced countless dance camps and workshops learning diverse international guest choreographers and Australia’s best.

Some of the multi award-winning dance teams choreographed by Taneikah Wescombe include Expialidopest, Checkmate, Genetik, Baby Sole Fam, SOLE FAM and her travel team - 3 x Dancers Paradise International Champions (Mexico).

Taneikah created a teacher mentorship program under The House of Sole. Using her many years of
experience in teaching all ages and ability levels, she has designed an exclusive mentorship program offered to each of our Sole teachers and assistant teachers with the intension of building and maintaining the quality of teaching at Sole and beyond. This program later evolved into Upskill.

The Upskill Teacher Mentorship Program covers requisite skills, knowledge and insights into history, culture, music, dance styles and influences that underpins our industry and ideally informs our teaching. Along with ethics, skills and techniques in teaching all ages and abilities, team development, freestyle and choreography, participants gain enhanced tools and practices in leadership, mindset, mentoring and industry, and focused competence in teaching to complement their dancing expertise. Fast-forward to 2024, Taneikah has expanded the Upskill offerings, with the brand now delivering training and mentorship in dance, creativity, teaching and leadership across multiple programs both face-to-face and online including 1on1 (private one-on-one mentorship), Made2Order (Private group mentorship) and public programs and opportunities including Upskill on tour, an intensive version of Upskill delivered to multiple cities across Australia and New Zealand.

Taneikah created ‘Upskill’ Dance Teacher Mentorship program that commenced in July 2020 through face-to-face and virtual delivery. A dance teacher, training, development and mentorship program in  choreographic dance influenced by Hip Hop dance styles, other street dance and club dance styles. The upskill

Another program T offered through The House of Sole is her Travel Team Program. This is a project designed to bring dancers from all over Australia/New Zealand together to experience an intensive training program under Taneikah and co-director Codie Wescombe and to represent SOLE FAM on an International stage. The idea is for dancers to then spread the experience and growth they gained from the program back into their home communities, teams and studios. After 4 years of this program and 3 Gold Medals under their belts, the travel team family continues to grow with extended Sole fam dancers across Australia and New Zealand.

In 2019 Taneikah launched Upgrade Dance Competition, with qualifying events across Australia and NewZealand leading to an epic finals event, including a battle event and Upgrade Dance Camp with a huge line-up of international judges and choreographers.

As an internationally renowned choreographer, tutor and mentor, Taneikah continues to travel the worldteaching and sharing her craft in many different countries including Australia-wide, New Zealand, Guam, Singapore, China, USA and Canada.

Other credits include dancer for 50 cent on the ‘RnB Fridays’ live Australian tour, Judging multiple national and international dance competitions, choreography for Monsta X (KPOP), choreography for Australia’s Got Talent and awarded 2017 GTB Choreographer of the year.
